A couple of weeks ago, PC Harrison announced that the BPD will be eliminating sworn police positions and hiring civilian investigators. He further stated that these civilian investigators would be doing everything a sworn detective would do, right up to arrest. Your union leadership at FOP3 believes, without question, that this is an anti-labor policy and is, in essence, an attempt at union-busting.

The BPD has not done enough to recruit and retain officers. Salaries are not competitive except in the initial hire phase, and working conditions continue to be substandard and, in some cases, dangerous.

FOP3 has filed an Unfair Labor Practice Complaint in regard to the labor violations and will keep you updated as it progresses through the process.
