All,
In order to comply with Governor Hogan’s requirements for social distancing, we have been diligently trying to find a platform that would allow us to present a secure and confidential online Membership Meeting for April. Fortunately, we were able to hold our Board Meeting last week, via Zoom, but this would not be possible for the General Membership Meeting because of the numbers that would potentially log in to the session and the security issues that would be involved. As you know, our meetings have never been streamed because we are a Fraternal organization that sometimes deals with sensitive issues requiring confidentiality. A meeting the size that would be required would make it exceedingly difficult to maintain that protection.
We hope to have this issue worked out in time for the May Membership Meeting, if necessary. If, however, the State of Maryland loosens the restrictions that would allow for some sort of meeting at the Lodge in May, we will try to find a way to make it happen even if we have to limit the number of members allowed in the Hall.
This, along with other issues, is a work in progress which has included input from the FOP#3 Board of Directors and National FOP President, Pat Yoes. We will continue to keep you updated throughout this process.
Thanks,
Mike Mancuso
